Universal Studios Beijing opened on September 20, 2021 in Tongzhou District as part of Universal Beijing Resort, a joint venture between Universal and a consortium of Chinese state-owned enterprises. It opened as the largest Universal theme park by area.
The park launched with seven themed lands, including a Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Transformers: Metrobase, alongside Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness — the first land anywhere dedicated to the DreamWorks franchise.
